If spending time with family and friends outside sounds like a fun time to you, check out our list of the best campgrounds in the Massachusetts area. Whether you want to rough it or go "glamping," there's an option for you!

Fernwood Forest Campground

Location: Hinsdale, off of Longview Ave

This family-oriented campground has multiple spacious campsites for tents and RVs. If you want to stay entertained on your trip, you'll have a great time at Fernwood Forest. A recreation center, two playgrounds, and tetherball, basketball, and volleyball courts are just some of the amenities offered here. You'll also appreciate the full-service bathrooms with flush toilets and showers after a day of hanging out and playing in the woods.

Partridge Hollow Camping Area

Location: 72 Sutcliffe Road, Monson

This beautifully maintained campground is renowned for its mission of getting guests to reconnect with one another and disconnect from their technology. Nestled within the Brimfield State Forest, the relaxed and quiet atmosphere of the campground complements the many, many engaging activities the hosts have available for you to do. From pools to playgrounds to themed dinners to music, dancing, crafting, and movie nights, Partridge Hollow just may become your home away from home, no matter what you like to do.

Lake Manchaug Camping

Location: 76 Oak Street, Douglas

Situated on the gorgeous 380-acre Lake Manchaug, this campground offers a variety of sleeping options for you to choose from: lakeside, lake-view, tent, RV, or cabin rental. Whichever option you choose, you'll have easy access to the boating, fishing, and kayaking available. Enjoy a campfire with your family and friends, or head to the hiking trails in Douglas State Forest for some serene alone time.

Pines Camping Area

Location: 28 CCC Road, Salisbury

You'll get the best of both worlds with this campground that features shady trees and forest, all while providing a view of the marshland and Merrimack River. And with close proximity to both Salisbury and Hampton beaches, you're set for a great vacation. Splash around in the heated pool or stir up some competition in the game room. If you'd like a change of pace, head over to nearby Plum Island and visit the Parker River National Wildlife Refuge.

So pick a place and pack some snacks (you really mustn't forget the marshmallows), and get ready for a great time!
