Here at Audi Cary, while we might be a little biased, we truly believe that all of the new Audi models in our inventory can more than hold their own against the other vehicles in their respective segments. And that goes double for the newly redesigned 2017 Audi A4. Now in its fifth generation, the premium compact is often compared to the Lexus ES 350, which, despite being more expensive falls behind in some areas. Here are three aspects that elevate the A4 over Lexus's offering.

• We'll get this out of the way first. Even though the two models boast similar specifications, the ES 350 is more expensive. With an MSRP of $37,3000, the A4 offers much more car for the money and represents a better value than the ES 350 which is priced at $38,900.
• The Audi A4 features a seven-speed automated manual transmission on all models, which is more versatile than the six-speed automatic transmission of the ES 350. Furthermore, while front-wheel drive is standard on both vehicles, only the A4 offers Audi's legendary Quattro all-wheel drive as an option.
• Efficiency: Despite their similar performance numbers, the A4 is more fuel efficient. It finds its motivation in a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder power plant that achieves EPA-estimated fuel economy ratings of 25 mpg city, 33 mpg highway, and 28 mpg combined. The ES 350's engine is comparatively thirstier, with ratings of 21 mpg city, 30 mpg highway, and 24 mpg combined.
